North End Women's Centre (NEWC) was established in 1984 in the North End of Winnipeg on Treaty 1 territory and serves women and gender-diverse individuals. NEWC vision is people thriving on their chosen paths and their mission is to "facilitate healing, wellness and capacity building through diverse community-centred approaches".
NEWC drop-in centre is located on Selkirk Avenue and sees over 100 folks each day. NEWC is requesting essential needs to help service the community members around them and provide comfort during difficult times.
NEWC is seeking donations of the following items for their drop in centre: Shampoo, conditioner, hairbrushes, body wash, soap, q-tips, razors, deodorant, lotion, toothbrushes, toothpastem floss, underwear, socks, bottled water, hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray, ceramic white coffee cups, and hot liquid to-go cups with lids.
North End Women's Centre says organizing a collection drive for these items will help with the dignity of their centre's participants as they navigate poverrty and housing insecurity, especially as the weather gets warmer.
